| Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI): Related Keywords |
|
What in the world is latent semantic indexing? While some advertisers use it without knowing it, the vast majority of ad copy writers fail to understand or use it. Do not confuse LSI with NLP, or neuro-linguistic programming, which is the process of positive-negative word association. For example, stab wound (bad, increases stress) and fluffy pillow (good, reduces stress). LSI Related Keywords Throughout Your Keyword ListPPC keyword list creation is the process of establishing lists of related keywords. All included keywords should be relevant in nature to one's own website content. If a given website content focuses on motorcycle parts, search engines expect it to advertise on keywords related to motorcycle parts. LSI Related Keywords Promoting Ad Group DivisionsWhile latent semantic indexing involves synonymous word association and representation, this is particularly true for ad group organization. Keyword groupings, referred to as adgroups (ad groups), should be filled with keywords which are all relevant to each other. For example, if a maternity clothing company constructs the most appropriate keyword list, one likely division that the keywords themselves will promote should be keywords containing pregnant, another should be pregnancy and a third should be maternity. Separating these out first should provide a clear basis for further ad group divisions. Subsequent divisions that the keywords themselves should suggest might be pregnancy jeans, pregnant jeans and maternity jeans. Another branch off of the campaign strategy tree should result in ad groups such as buttoned pregnancy shirts, buttoned pregnant shirts and buttoned maternity shirts and etc. LSI Related Keywords In Text Ad CopyAlthough your ad group structure should be divided and subdivided until your brain liquefies into mush as a result of the tedious work, there may be instances in which you may not want to lump 2 keywords into their own ad group. In such a circumstance as having pregnant, pregnancy and maternity all in the same ad group, the LSI technique suggests that your keyword variations should be as present as possible in the ad which represents them. Take a look at the two ads below. The first ad will represent a highly broken down ad group solely dedicated to maternity dresses, whereas the second ad will represent an ad group using all three designations. Maternity Dresses HQ vs Pregnancy Dresses HQ Placing all three designations in the ad group ensure that at minimum the ad will display at least one bolded qualifier. Bolded ad text draws reader attention and highlights targeted relevancy that push more traffic to your website. Also note that while Find, Discover or Get would perfectly appropriate words with which to start the ad, Buy is a stronger and more influential term to the psychological preparation of your audience. |
